Is Featherstall right for my shop?
Featherstall gives you the shop: your own web address, your products, a cart and Stripe's checkout. You bring the buyers, from your bio, your posts, your emails and your market table. It isn't a marketplace, so nobody browses it for you.
It suits:
- One-offs and small batches. Give a product a stock number, 1 for a one-off or 40 for a batch, and it shows Sold out when they're gone.
- One price per product. Ceramics, prints, vintage finds, plants, candles, zines, jewelry.
- Posting orders yourself, at one rate per order, to up to 3 zones of countries.
- Selling in English or Spanish, in any of 16 currencies, wherever you can open a Stripe account.
What it doesn't do yet:
- Choices on one product, like sizes, colors or flavors. A dozen and two dozen are two products, and the importer keeps sizes and colors as notes.
- Pickup as a choice at checkout, alongside shipping.
- Shipping labels. Buy postage from your carrier, then add the tracking number to the order.
- Digital downloads, discount codes, collections, product reviews or gift notes.
- A download of your listings or photos. You can download your orders. Keep your own copies of your photos.
- A card reader. At a fair, use the one you have. Featherstall is your shop between fairs.
Fees
What does a quiet month cost? And a busy one?
A month with no sales costs nothing: there's no monthly fee, no set-up fee and nothing per listing. When you sell, we take 2% of each order and Stripe takes its card fee, 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card.
Our fees stop at $29 per shop in a calendar month, so $4,000 of sales in December costs $29 in our fees. Stripe's fees have no cap: on $40 orders, that December's would be $146.
| A month of $40 orders on US cards, shipping included, no tax | Stripe's fees | Our fee | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0, a quiet month | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| $400 | $14.60 | $8.00 | $377.40 |
| $1,000 | $36.50 | $20.00 | $943.50 |
| $2,000 | $73.00 | $29.00 | $1,898.00 |
| $4,000, a busy December | $146.00 | $29.00 | $3,825.00 |
When does the $29 cap kick in?
Once a month's sales pass about $1,450, because 2% of $1,450 is $29. Each order's 2% is worked out on its items plus shipping, not tax, and rounded to the cent. Once that month's fees reach $29, the rest of its orders carry no fee from us. Months are calendar months in UTC.
If an order crosses the cap, Stripe may first take its full 2%. We give back the part over the cap shortly after the order is paid, and the order page shows what it owes and why.
Is our fee returned if I refund an order?
No. Like Stripe's card fee, our 2% isn't returned when you refund an order.
Are there any other fees?
Not from us. Stripe charges its own fees on your Stripe account:
- Its card fee on each sale: 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card.
- Cards from other countries: 1.5% more. Converting currency: 1% more.
- Disputes: if a buyer disputes a payment, Stripe charges $15. If you respond to the dispute, Stripe charges another $15, which it gives back if you win.
- Stripe Tax, if you turn it on, has its own fee.
These are Stripe's standard US prices, as checked on 1 October 2026. Stripe's prices depend on your country and your account, so see Stripe's pricing for yours.
If you want your own domain, you pay a domain company for it. If our fee ever changes, we'll email you 30 days before.
What are the caps in other currencies?
Each currency has its own cap, about the same as $29. Fee-free sales from a code (see the next question) are about $1,000's worth.
| Currency | Our fees stop at, each calendar month | Fee-free sales from a code |
|---|---|---|
| US dollar | $29.00 | $1,000.00 |
| Euro | €29.00 | €1,000.00 |

| New Zealand dollar | NZ$49.00 | NZ$1,700.00 |
| Mexican peso | MX$499.00 | MX$18,000.00 |

| Singapore dollar | S$39.00 | S$1,300.00 |
| Hong Kong dollar | HK$229.00 | HK$7,800.00 |
Is there a referral reward?
Yes. Every shop's "Powered by Featherstall" link carries its code. When someone opens a new account through it, their first shop's first $1,000 of sales carry no Featherstall fee, or the amount in the table above for their currency. At our 2%, that's up to $20. Once three different buyers have paid their shop, your shop gets the same. Codes from markets and partners give a new account's first shop the same. Fee-free sales have no cash value, and Stripe's fees still apply.
Getting paid
What do I need before my shop takes orders?
Two things. First, your policies: a contact email, and your returns policy, which is a window of 1 to 365 days or all sales final. Second, Stripe: connect a Stripe account, and Stripe has to accept it. Until both are done, your shop shows your products but can't take orders, and it stays hidden from search engines.
What is Stripe, and what if it says no?
Stripe is the payment company that takes your buyers' card payments and pays your bank. No Stripe account? You make one on the way: we start it with your email, and you finish Stripe's form on Stripe's site. Stripe asks for your bank details and ID, and decides whether to accept your account. If Stripe says no, your shop can't take payments through Featherstall. That costs you nothing, and you can close the shop whenever you like.
Can my money be held? When do I get paid?
Featherstall never holds your money. Payments go into your own Stripe account, and Stripe pays your bank on its own schedule, which you can see in your Stripe account. Like any payment company, Stripe can hold money under its own rules. If it does, Stripe tells you what it needs, and you can write to us at support@featherstall.com.
How can buyers pay?
On Stripe's own checkout page: by card, or by any other way to pay that's switched on in your Stripe account, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, where Stripe offers them. Featherstall doesn't add or block any.
Claude
Do I have to use the AI?
No. You can fill in your shop's details yourself and add each product by hand. Claude drafts only when you press a button that asks it to, and nothing it writes is published until you save it.
What does Claude do, and what doesn't it do?
Claude is an AI made by Anthropic. It does the typing; you decide what goes up.
It can:
- Draft a title, a description and alt text from photos of one product and your notes. Alt text describes a photo for people who can't see it.
- Read your price list, spreadsheet or Etsy export, so you don't retype it.
- Make a description shorter or warmer, or translate it.
- Draft About, FAQ, Care and Contact pages from a few facts you give it.
- Suggest a look for your shop from a description and a photo of your work or packaging.
- Look up what similar things ask online, and link every page it found. These are asking prices, not what sold.
It doesn't:
- Publish anything. Every draft waits, marked as a draft, until you save it.
- Set prices. They come only from your price list, notes or export, or a price you choose.
- Make photos, or change yours.
- Write to your buyers.
- Get it right every time. Drafts can be wrong about a size, a material or a flavor, so read each one.
Not sure what to charge? Price help works out the lowest price that covers your materials, packaging and time, the card fee and our 2%.
Will Claude change my photos or make things up?
Claude writes words. It doesn't make photos, or change yours. It's told to describe only what a photo shows and what you've told it, and to list what a photo can't show, like size, material or care, for you to check. For food, that means ingredients and allergens: Claude can't see them, so you add them. It never sets prices. Drafts can still be wrong, so read each one. Nothing is published unless you save it.
What does Claude see, and how many drafts do I get?
Only what a draft needs: the photo or text you give it, with details like your shop's name. It never sees your orders or your buyers' details. Anthropic, which makes Claude, processes it to return the draft, under Anthropic's commercial terms.
You get 50 drafts in any 24 hours, and more in your first three days. One listing is one draft; reading a long price list or checking prices online takes several. When you've used them, the builder says so, and they refill over the next 24 hours. We may change the limit or pause drafting. You can still add products by hand.
Products
Can I sell one-of-a-kind pieces, or a set batch?
Yes. Give a product a stock number: 1 for a one-off, or 40 for a batch of tins. Each paid order lowers it, and at 0 your shop shows Sold out. Stock goes down when an order is paid, so if two people pay for the last one at the same moment, the second order is marked Oversold, and you choose whether to send it or refund it. To stop orders for a while, set stock to 0 or untick Published.
Can I keep my Etsy shop, and bring my listings?
Yes, keep it: Etsy's search can bring you buyers, and your own shop is for the buyers you bring yourself. We never sign in to Etsy.
To bring listings from Etsy, Shopify or Square, download them as a CSV file and add it. Claude drafts them ten at a time with your prices, and you check each one. An export brings words and prices once, not photos, so you add those. Nothing stays in sync: if a piece sells on Etsy first, set its stock to 0 here. Depop isn't one we've tested: add your photos with prices in a note, or paste a list.
Up to 10 photos go in at a time, and a product can have more; Claude looks at up to 4 when it drafts one.
A photo or spreadsheet won't go in. What do I do?
Photos go in as JPEG, PNG or WebP. If an iPhone photo won't go in, it's probably HEIC: export it as JPEG, or set Settings › Camera › Formats to Most Compatible for the photos you take from now on.
Spreadsheets go in as CSV. In Excel or Numbers, choose File, then Save As or Export, then CSV, and add that. The builder tells you both of these when it happens.
Can I sell cookies or other food?
Yes, where the law lets you sell it and Stripe accepts your account. As with any product, checking your local food rules is up to you. Put ingredients and allergens in each description: Claude can't see them in a photo, so you add them. A dozen and two dozen, or different flavors, are separate products for now. Pickup isn't a choice at checkout yet.
Shipping and tax
How does shipping work?
You set one rate per order and, if you like, an amount from which shipping is free. You can have up to 3 zones, each a group of countries with its own rate; with more than one, buyers choose where their order is going. One rate covers the whole order, whatever's in it, so set one that covers your usual parcel, or build the extra for heavy pieces into their price. Buyers can send an order to any address in your zones, so a gift can go straight to someone else. If you don't ship at all, leave shipping empty and checkout won't ask for an address.
Featherstall doesn't sell shipping labels: buy postage from your carrier or a postage service, then add the tracking number to the order, and your buyer gets an email saying how to follow it.
Who handles sales tax?
You do. Featherstall doesn't file or pay tax for you. If you sell on Etsy, you may be used to Etsy handling it there; in your own shop, it's yours. Whether what you sell is taxed, and where you must collect tax, depends on where you and your buyers are, so check with your state or an accountant. If you need to collect it, Stripe Tax on your own Stripe account can add tax at checkout, on top of your prices or included in them. Stripe charges its own fee for Stripe Tax. Our 2% leaves the tax out.
Can I sell outside the US?
Yes, wherever you can open a Stripe account. Your shop can be in English or Spanish and priced in any of 16 currencies, and you can ship to up to 3 zones of countries, each with its own rate. For Stripe's card fees outside the US, see Stripe's pricing.
Being found
Will anyone find my shop?
Not by itself. Featherstall isn't a marketplace, so nobody browses it for you. Buyers come from your links: in your bio, your posts, your emails and on your market table. If you need a marketplace's shoppers, keep Etsy for that.
What we do: every shop is built for search engines to read, and stays hidden from them until it can take payments. Your products can also appear in Google's free listings once you set up a Google Merchant Center account yourself, your shop can take payments, you've said who makes what you sell, and each product has a photo. Google decides what it shows. How shops are built has the details.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes, if you buy one. Every shop starts at yourname.featherstall.shop, and that address keeps working. Buy a domain from any domain company and add it to your shop. We show you what to paste into that company's settings, check the domain is yours, and set up the padlock (HTTPS) for you. A shop can have up to 5 domains, with one as its main address. The domain isn't included: you pay the domain company.
Can I see my visitors, or add a Facebook or TikTok pixel?
No. Your shop has no analytics and no ad pixels, and our privacy policy promises your buyers that. So there are no visitor counts, and you can't see whether TikTok sent people who didn't buy. You see every order.
Your account
Do I need a computer, or to be good with one?
No. The builder works in your phone's browser, with nothing to install, and there's no code: you fill in plain forms with names, prices and photos. A few steps may be new to you: Stripe's sign-up asks for your bank details and ID, and your own domain is optional, with exactly what to paste shown if you add one.
No password? How is my account safe?
You sign in with a link we email you, from login@featherstall.com, so only someone who can open your email can sign in. Keep your email account secure. Each link works once, for 15 minutes. Not in your inbox within a minute? Check your spam or junk folder. If a link runs out, say while it sat in spam, the page it opens lets you send a new one. Once you're in, you stay signed in on that device for 30 days.
What's mine, and can I leave?
You choose your shop's name, logo, look, products, prices, stock and policies, and you can add your own domain. Payments go to your own Stripe account.
You can download your orders as a spreadsheet (CSV) whenever you like. There's no download of your listings or photos yet, so keep your own copies. To leave, close your shop in Settings: it goes offline at once. Change your mind within 30 days and reopen it as it was. After that it's deleted. Your payments stay in your Stripe account.
