Acceptable Use Policy
Draft for legal review — last updated 2026-09-30.
This policy applies to every Featherstall account and store, and to the AI tools in the builder. It is part of the Terms of Service, and you accept it when you sign in. "You" means the merchant.
Stripe's rules apply
Every store takes payments through Stripe. So you can't use Featherstall for any business on Stripe's restricted and prohibited businesses list, unless Stripe allows it.
- If Stripe prohibits a business, Featherstall does too.
- If Stripe allows a business only with its approval, you need that approval before you sell, and you must show it to us if we ask.
- When Stripe updates its list, the updated list applies.
Also not allowed on Featherstall
Even where Stripe would allow it, you may not use Featherstall for:
- Phishing or impersonation. Pretending to be another brand, business or person, including through a store's name, domain, logo or design. Tricking people into giving you passwords, card details or other personal data.
- Counterfeit goods, or goods that infringe someone else's trademark, copyright or other rights.
- Stolen goods.
- Deceptive listings. Misrepresenting what you sell, its condition, origin, price or delivery time. Taking payment for goods you don't intend to send. Using AI-generated or edited photos that misrepresent the goods. Publishing a seller name, contact email, or returns or delivery policy that isn't true, or that you don't honour.
- Illegal weapons, and weapons, parts or accessories that are illegal where you sell or ship them.
- Drugs. Illegal drugs and controlled substances, and products sold as legal alternatives to them.
- Sexual content involving minors. Any sexual content involving minors, in any form: photos, video, drawings, text or AI-generated images. This includes adult content that involves, or appears to involve, anyone under 18. We remove it, close the account and report it to the authorities as the law requires.
- Hate and harassment. Content that promotes violence or hatred against people because of their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or a similar characteristic. Harassing or threatening anyone, or publishing someone's private information.
- Malware and attacks. Distributing malware, or using Featherstall to attack, probe or break into any system.
- Spam. Sending unsolicited bulk messages to promote your store. Using shoppers' email addresses for marketing without the consent the law requires.
- Scraping or overloading. Scraping other stores or the builder by automated means. Sending traffic meant to slow down or overload Featherstall or any store. Getting around our limits, for example by opening extra accounts to get more sign-in links or AI drafts.
- Unlawful AI output. Using the AI tools to produce anything unlawful, or anything this policy forbids. Trying to get around the safeguards built into them.
- Anything else illegal where you sell, or where your goods are sent.
Reporting a store
If you see a store that breaks this policy, tell us at abuse@featherstall.com, or use the "Report this store" link at the bottom of every store. Include the store's address and what you saw. We read every report.
If the problem is with an order, contact the store first, at the email shown at the bottom of its pages. Each store handles its own orders, refunds and delivery.
Copyright notices
If a store uses your copyrighted work without permission, send a notice to our copyright agent: [owner's legal name], doing business as Featherstall, Attn: Copyright Agent, [mailing address], or abuse@featherstall.com. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- The copyrighted work you say is infringed.
- What on the store infringes it, and its address, so that we can find it.
- Your name, address, phone number and email.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.
We then remove the material or disable access to it, which can mean taking the store offline, and tell its merchant.
A merchant who believes the material was removed by mistake or misidentification can send a counter-notice to the same addresses, with:
- Their physical or electronic signature.
- What was removed, and where it was.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that they believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Their name, address and phone number, and a statement that they consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for their address (or, outside the United States, of any judicial district where Featherstall may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice.
We send the counter-notice to the person who sent the notice. We put the material back 10 to 14 business days after we received the counter-notice, unless that person first tells us they have gone to court to stop the infringement.
We close the accounts of merchants who infringe repeatedly.
What we do
We look into reports. We may remove content, suspend a store or close an account, as the Terms of Service describe. Where there is harm, we act immediately. We may tell Stripe, and we tell the authorities where the law requires it or someone is at risk.
